301QH is a common austenitic stainless steel, very resistant to corrosion and containing a higher level of carbon which allows for cold working and tempering.

- Easily formed once annealed
- Forging and upsetting can be performed at 1800-2100 F
- Cold work methods will be more difficult due to high hardening rate, with increased strength when finished.
- Anneal at 1850-2050 followed by immediate cooling (water quench suggested)
